Who we are

Ray Busby Snr is the legend behind Busby Demolition and customers come from far and wide to the demolition yard not only to purchase recycled hardware but also for a chat with the well-liked and highly-regarded Ray Busby.

Ray started his working career as a carpenter and joiner, building houses with Sam Dean in Rockhampton for 7 years. Following this, he worked for Ken McEague and Woollam Brothers as a carpenter building commercial buildings, homes, as well as bridges and the Fitzroy River Barrage in Rockhampton. Ray then went out on his own and started Busby Construction with his first job in Blackwater. Busby Construction grew very quickly over the following 3 years, employing up to 56 men. Ray built 47 bridges and culverts, and also worked on the Stanwell Power Station, concreting spillways, building reinforced earth walls, and drains. Slowing down this busy pace, Ray started Busby Demolition, pulling down homes and commercial buildings in and around Rockhampton and setting up a demolition yard. The demolition yard is a renovator's dream, with recycled timber, windows, screens, clawfoot baths, sinks, etc. almost anything you can think of when it comes to buildings.
